Realizing that I have nearly 200 followers here in the Tumblrverse, I thought it was time I started tailoring some content to you guys.

So I’ve learnt how to make animated .gifs.  Because they are the alphabet with which the language of Tumblr is written.

Edit Edit: I fixed it!  Now you can enjoy some .gifs that actually move.  I’ll get the hang of this some day!

Instead of a comic today, have two quick stop motion animations!  Hopefully I will make more of these some day, and hopefully they will be better.

Part 1 of 2!  Not much of a cliff hanger though…  Sorry for the delay- I moved house!  Part 2 tomorrow, then more nonsense in the coming week.

I made Asmo some clothes, and also a chair!  It is the IKEA Snille swivel chair, although apparently this shade of green has been discontinued?  I’ll take a picture of the tiny chair with my full-sized chair later.

Comic soon!

Here he is.  Asmodeus is finished.  Clothes coming, of course- how is it he looks more naked now that he has skin?  No one has ever made a doll like this before.  He is crochet on top of a stop motion armature, and he’s the beginning of big things.  Look at his little muscles!

So this was surprisingly difficult to do…  I got a request to see Asmodeus’ eyes move, so here they are moving!  Not perfectly in sync, but it was the best I could do.  More WIP pictures later today!  I think I’ve been crocheting too hard- my fingers are starting to bruise…

“And can I get a haircut?  Also my hands are too small- fix that please?”
A comic!  The first of many?  Meet Asmodeus!  First of the personal demons.  I was so excited at finishing his face that I went ahead and made him a comic.  There will be much more of him, especially when he is whole.
He is crochet on top of a stop motion armature!  I am hoping that I will use this basic set-up to create dolls for stop motion animation, but I will need to finish him and make sure the concept is sound before I start trying to sell the idea to animation studios.  As you can see, his face is pretty expressive!  It is not as expressive as I had hoped, but he can cover the basics and I will no doubt be able to improve the design for the next doll.
Also his face is fucking incredible- did I mention that?  No one has done anything like this with crochet before.  Ever.  Just thought I’d brag about that quickly.
I have a WIP page where you can check out how he was made an check in with his progress towards having a body.

Complete facial armature!  A little terrifying, I know, but the next step is adding skin on top, so he won’t be so scary.
This is my big project- making a fully articulated crochet doll good enough for stop motion animation!  I’ve been working with a stop motion armature kit from Animation Supplies, which I am very pleased with indeed, but I had to invent my own set up for an expressive face.  So here is my very optimistic facial armature!
The eyes open and close and have a full range of motion, the teeth also open and close.  The wire bends around the eyes will hopefully allow movement under the skin of his brows and cheeks to create fuller expressions.  The wire above his eyes will act as a frame or where his face meets his hair- I am hoping to make his hair hook on and off so that I can reach inside his head to fiddle with his face.  Will it work?  I will keep you all updated with my progress!  I’ve created a WIP page, where I update with current progress every few days, so if you want to see how I built this guy and watch him progress, check it out!
